Say hello to Silly Sully, a 4-year-old African Sulcata Tortoise with a big personality and an even bigger appetite!
Sully might be small now, but watch out—he’s gonna grow to be one of the biggest tortoises in the world! That’s right, Sulcata tortoises can get HUGE. But don’t worry, Sully’s got a silly, gentle heart.
Turtle or Tortoise? 🤔
Here’s a fun fact that surprises a lot of people:
All tortoises are turtles… but not all turtles are tortoises!
Tortoises, like Sully, live on land and have strong, sturdy legs for walking (and digging!). Turtles usually live in water and have webbed feet for swimming.
But guess what? Sully can’t swim! Its ok though, because while he’s playing on his splash pad, he’s also getting super hydrated! He absorbs water through his bottom half!
Sully’s Natural Home ☀️
Sully comes from the hot, sandy deserts of Africa. He’s built to handle the heat and loves to dig cool tunnels to chill out. During the summer you can find Sully splooting in the sun, hiding in the shade, or chasing his ‘tub toys’ around the pool!
What Does Sully Eat? 🥬🍓
He’s a TOTAL foodie! favHis favorite munchies include:
Grass and Hay – This is the good stuff! It’s his main meal, and he munches on it all day long🌿
Cactus Pads – Oh boy, these are a special treat! They’re super crunchy, juicy, and sweet.
Fruit – (only when he’s being REALLY cute) – Sometimes, if he gives the sweet tortoise face, he gets a special treat! A little strawberry or apple slice—yummo!🍓

Raising a tortoise is a big responsibility! We need:
- Warm, sunny spots to soak up heat
- Fresh food and water every day
- Shallow water for splashing
- Plenty of space to wander and dig
Oh, and here’s something wild—Sully could live to be over 120 years old! That’s a lot of silly years!
